How to Get Started

Here is a list of suggestions if you are interested in participating:
  1. If you have an idea of something you'd like to implement, great!
  2. Or, review the Wishlist of task items listed below. See what interests you.
  3. Write the working group members or chairs and discuss your ideas with them.
  4. Get the current build from the website. We hope that the current build should always be in downloads directory as latest_src.jar or something very similar. Please check the status notes to see if there are other factors to consider such as very recent patches.
  5. Think about whether your additions will be fairly major or minor. If you don't know, discuss it with the list or chairs. Depending on the answer to this there are two ways we may want to merge your additions. If your code will involve major changes, we will create a build branch for your work so that when it is finished we can merge it back into the main line easily :). In addition, if you will want to do build updates within your version itself, you can do so to create intermediate versions of your work. We can help you set up a local or remote CVS connection for code management.

Wishlist

This is a list of items to be done or still being worked on. It lists both bugs needing to be fixed and "wishlist" items. It lists who is working on each item, for currently assigned items. Most up to date information is in the README above.

It will also contain a summary record of past work and previous fixes.
